About Somnath Temple
Somnath Temple is the first among the twelve Jyotirlinga shrines of Lord Shiva. Located on the shores of Arabian Sea, it's been destroyed and rebuilt 17 times. The current structure was rebuilt in 1951 after independence. The temple is mentioned in ancient texts like Rig Veda, Shiva Purana, and Skanda Purana. The temple's location is considered to be on the shore with no land between it and Antarctica. The Chalukya style architecture and beachfront location make it stunning. Best Time: October to March.
